EDUCATION
Our children are our future and in understanding that, APL work with a number of academy trusts and local authority schools to develop, refurbish and improve educational spaces.
We have successfully delivered large-scale projects in short time frames to minimise disruption to the daily running of the schools and children’s education.
Some examples of this have been through alterations, improving site safety, cyclical refurbishment and significant projects and extensions.
SNOWFIELDS ACADEMY
Client Barker Associates
Location Cranbrook

Full refurbishment of the ground and first floor at High Weald Academy now known as Snowfields Academy.
This project was located in Cranbrook, Kent and the works were carried out over an 8-week construction period.
Barker Associates were looking to transform the school to support the teachers and school children ready for the new year. APL undertook works to 33 areas of the school, classrooms, new food technology rooms, dining room, staff room, circulation areas a new auditorium.
The school was occupied for the first 2 weeks and APL had the responsibility of working with the teachers and hoarding off the working areas so no school children could access the work.
The works consisted of heavy strip out, new decorations throughout, new flooring, new partitions, new glazed screens & two brand new food technology rooms which were fitted out with brand new equipment. Mechanical and electrical alterations were carried out and APL were tasked to supply and install the new school signage.
MASCALLS ACADEMY

Full refurbishment of the ground floor at Mascalls Academy.
This project was located in Tonbridge, Kent and the works were carried
out over a 7-week construction period.
Barker Associates were looking to transform the school to support the teachers and school children ready for the new year. APL undertook work in this area to accommodate new classrooms for the school.
The works consisted of heavy strip out, new decorations throughout, new flooring, new partitions, a new kitchen area for the teachers and a new unisex WC with new sanitaryware and cubicles. APL had to phase the works as they had to complete the classrooms ready for the returning school children in September. The second phase consisted of the fit-out of the new Unisex WC which were carried out over a 2-week period.
HUNDRED OF HOO

Location Hoo

APL were tasked to carry out the piling, underpinning, structural wall repairs, step refurbishment and internal refurbishment of the library.
This project was located in Hoo, Kent and the works were carried out over a 7-week construction period.
Barker Associates required the works to be completed within the summer holidays ready for the school children returning in September.
The works consisted of breaking out the existing slab ready for the piling and underpinning works to the existing building. Whilst these works were being carried out APL stripped out the existing steps ready for the new steps to be built. As these works were coming to an end APL started the internal works which consisted of Helifix structural wall repairs followed by making good and then a full redecoration of the library.
